Fishing

Fishing
For many years, the Saryu has been one of the most interesting rivers for Mahseer fishing. This is due to the fact that it is the second-biggest tributary of the powerful Mahakali which forms the border between India and Nepal. This river is one of the migration passages for the Golden Mahseer and , during the seasons we propose, they are very active. The Mahakali river is one of the biggest reserves for these majestic fish which move up the River Saryu, giving very good results from year to year. The tour we organise will give you the opportunity not only to fly-fish or spin for the Mahseer, but also to meet the local population in this remote area.

Fishing the Saryu is most productive during two periods in the year. One in the spring (from March to June) with a migration upstream and the second in autumn (from September to October) with a migration downstream. Our programme has been chosen to give you the most efficient fishing possibilities.

The Saryu is good for fly-fishing and quite easy to fish with just the right volume for single or two-handed rods. In the hotter months the Mahseer can also lie in the rapids – a thrilling experience !
