Geography

Geography
Sweden extends for 1574km from north to south and for 499 km from east to west and is the third largest country in western Europe. It has 38459km of interior waterways, 150000 islands, 96000 lakes and 7624km of coastline. Your fishing adventure will take place in the north of Lapland in the country of the midnight sun, where you will be able to admire unforgettable landscapes – from the high mountains in the west to the Bothnia Gulf in the east. This mountain region is generously sprinkled with thousands of lakes which are home to arctic char and trout. You will also discover the numerous rivers and their tributaries, teeming with fish. Here in Saxnas a wealth of opportunities await anyone who wants to experience new fishing sensations in this wonderful natural environment with its crystal-clear waters.

Fishing

Fishing methods
We recommend fly-fishing for the arctic char but spinning can also give good results with the big trout. Bait fishing is authorized on some stretches and works well. Waders are recommended.

Tackle rental : You can rent waders, tackle and float-tube
You can also hire a guide (English-speaking, one half-day is included in the price. Please consult us if you want a guide for a longer period)

Adventure fishing

Saxnas is surrounded by river stretches which are totally inaccessible by car but really good for fishing. That is the reason why we have set up ‘adventure fishing’ (at an extra cost) – your guide will take you to the most remote spots to fish grayling, trout and char. As an example, you will be able to fish the famous ‘Fiskonbäcken’ as well as the Ransaran. Transfer to these spots is by helicopter, boat or six-wheeler

The Upper Ransaran
The upper section of the Ransaran River is located in the heart of Lapland and runs through majestic mountainous landscapes, far from the roads and crowds. Anglers will seek out the large brown trout in the pools and fast-running crystal-clear waters. You will be surrounded by snow-capped mountains and forests , home to a rich variety of wildlife. All of this will make your visit to the Ransaran one to remember.

Fiskonbâcken
This stretch needs no introduction. Fiskonbäcken (Upper Fish Creek in English) is a 6-mile stretch where trout abound.

Here you will be fly-fishing, mainly for brown trout which can reach up to 2 kg. We advise you to fish with a floating line with nymphs, mayflies and caddis imitations of different stages of development.
